More and more visitors to Thailand find the food so delicious they want to be able to have Thai take-away in the extreme sense: they want to know how to duplicate these culinary taste treats in their own countries. Phuket now offers a number of Thai cooking classes to meet the booming demand.

Around the island woks are heating up, cleavers are being sharpened and an array of familiar and unfamiliar vegetables and spices are displayed to a determined but often bewildered audience. Some of the finest chefs on Phuket have even gone so far as to publish their recipes in cookbooks. Baan Rim Pa, noted for its popular piano bar, plus excellence in quality, service, and Thai ‘Royal’ cuisine, has added its own dash of genius to its collection of unique recipes in its own cookbook. For the Boathouse Cookbook Executive Chef Tamanoon has taken some of the more familiar Thai dishes and added his own personal touch to the recipes in this famous restaurant’s collection.

Cookery class options range from learning in the private setting of someone’s home – Pat’s Home Thai Cooking Classes – to the full restaurant kitchens at the Boathouse and the Old Siam Restaurant. In every course the best part is the final examination. That’s when you get to sit down and taste what you’ve just spent the last few hours learning how to make. Each class supplies recipes to take with you.
