Much More than Mini Golf

Family fun, yes, but here everyone has fun..


This is one of the pleasant surprises of Phuket – especially for families. After the beach, there is probably no place on the island that kids will like better. This writer knows, since his own second son, up until the age of 14, simply couldn’t stay away from the place every time he came down from his home in Bangkok. And it’s surprising how much fun adults have here too.

This is not simply mini-golf as we normally think of it. This is Dino Park, an open-air restaurant with waterfall and streams, a street-side bar, and a wilderness garden full of roaring, realistic dinosaurs. It’s all landscaped in dinosaur era imagery. And spewing fire and smoke (it appears) above this green oasis is Phuket’s only active volcano. And, oh yes, there is a fun mini-golf course winding it’s way through all of this, complete with obstacles that include caves, dinosaur skeletons and streams.

Part of the adjacent Marina Phuket resort, it is on the road crossing the little hill between Karon and Kata beaches. Dino Park was cleverly conceived as family entertainment, part of the forward-looking vision of Khun Somchai, the owner of Marina Phuket (with a huge investment, obviously). It’s great fun for all.
